Bike Lane on Rt 370 Closing on November 5 Until 2014
This from MoDOT: MoDOT will close the bike lane on the Route 370 Missouri River bridge (between St. Louis County and St. Charles County) starting Saturday, November 5. The Route 370 bridge is being restriped to add a fourth lane on 370 between Earth City Expressway on the St. Louis County side and Route 94 on the St. Charles County side. The extra lane will help traffic during the closure of the westbound I-70 Blanchette Bridge between St. Louis County and St. Charles County while it undergoes a major rehabilitation project. The fourth lane on Route 370 will be removed in 2014 and the bike lane will be restriped.
During the closure, cyclists should use Route 364/Page Avenue Extension to cross the Missouri River. A map showing MoDOT’s suggested detour on how to get from Route 370 to Route 94, as well as additional information about the project, can be found by clicking here.
If you’re a cyclist, we ask that as you adjust to losing this route, please post alternatives on Trailnet’s various social media platforms.
For more information on this project and the modifications MoDOT is making, contact the I-70 Blanchette Bridge Project Manager Tom Evers, or Community Relations Manager Linda Wilson at 888-ASK-MODOT (275-6636).

During better weather, I bicycle from north St. Louis county to St. Charles on business a couple of times a month. It's a nice 15 mile ride each way. With 370 closed, it is now 23.2 miles each way. That is farther than I can ride twice in a day with a work day sandwiched in between. So they've taken me off my bicycle and put me into my car for two years. Seems like they could have kept one of the two bike lines open and made it a two-way lane ... I know there isn't a lot of bike traffic on there, but telling cyclists to reroute to Page is totally impractical.
