Trailnet planners are collaborating with Beyond Housing and the Wellston community to reimagine safer and slower residential streets in Wellston. Our planners staged a pop-up traffic calming demonstration in Wellston in March 2024, supported by Ameren. They received valuable community feedback about road safety concerns from that demonstration, town hall meetings, community surveys, and conversations with community members. Using this feedback, Trailnet created a set of recommended traffic-calming solutions for Wellston, Quick-build traffic calming features were recently implemented at the intersection of Stephen Jones & Plymouth!
The Wellston City Council voted to implement the proposed improvements at Stephen Jones and Plymouth as the City’s “pilot project” for traffic calming, and the changes were implemented in fewer than 6 months!

During a pop-up event in March 2024, brightly colored tires, traffic cones, and paint were used to create bump-outs, a center median, and a high-visibility crosswalk at the Stephen Jones Avenue & Plymouth Avenue intersection.
