Why Trailnet?
There are a lot of amazing charities you could donate your hard-earned money to. So, why should you choose Trailnet? Because Trailnet…
…is the ONLY local organization focused exclusively on making it safer and easier for people to bike, walk and use public transit in the St. Louis region.
…is committed to addressing the racial and geographic inequities in biking and walking infrastructure caused by a century of disinvestment from predominantly Black and Brown neighborhoods
…is making it safer for kids to bike or walk to school, improving their health, attendance and academic performance.
…creates unique opportunities for nearly 3,000 people to bike at our rides hosted across the region.
…has a Gold transparency rating from Guidestar and a 4-star rating on Charity Navigator.
You should also consider investing in Trailnet if YOU…
…wish your kids could bike or walk to school safely
…wish YOU could bike or walk safely to work, the coffee shop, or your favorite neighborhood park
…believe your neighbors shouldn’t have to own their own vehicle to be able to work, go to school, or pick up a prescription.
…know we need to create more sustainable options for transportation to fight climate change but don’t know where to start.
…want to get involved in local politics to slow down the drivers in your neighborhood and add more bike lanes to local roads, but you just don’t have time to attend all those meetings.
If this sounds like you, consider investing in Trailnet’s work!
Trailnet is a 501c3 non-profit organization, EIN 43-1509048, and your gift is tax-deductible as allowable by law.
Other Ways to Give
Donate Your Car
Turn your old car into safer streets for biking and walking! Click here to retire your vehicle by donating it to Trailnet through Cars. Cars handles the pickup and paperwork for your vehicle donation and sends the proceeds of the sale to Trailnet.
Gifts of Stock
Trailnet accepts gifts of publicly traded securities. By gifting the stock to Trailnet (rather than selling it and donating the proceeds), you receive the federal and state charitable deductions and avoid paying capital gains tax. Both you and Trailnet benefit! For more information or to notify Trailnet of your intention to make a gift of stock, contact the Membership Manager: 314-297-0061 or membership@trailnet.org.
Matching Gifts
Many employers offer matching gift programs to match charitable contributions made by their employees. If your employer has such a program, the impact of your gift to Trailnet may be doubled and your membership level and benefits can be upgraded. Check with your Human Resources Department to see if your company has a matching gift policy and follow the procedures for designating Trailnet as the matching gift recipient.
United Way Campaigns
Some employers allow United Way contributions to be directed to Trailnet. Check with your Human Resources Department to see if this option is available to you.
Gifts of Property
The Executive Committee of the Trailnet Board of Directors will consider non-cash gifts of real estate or other property on a case-by-case basis. Trailnet maintains Gift Acceptance Guidelines to assist with decisions to accept and place a value upon all non-cash charitable donations.
Planned Gifts
Planned giving, simply defined, is any technique that includes charitable giving in your total financial plan. It is an excellent way to extend your generous support of Trailnet and have meaningful, ongoing impact on the vital work around the region. In working with donors and their financial advisors to plan major gifts, Trailnet’s Board of Directors is guided by Trailnet’s Gift Acceptance Guidelines. Trailnet gratefully accepts the following planned gift vehicles at this time:

- Charitable remainder trust: You may place assets in a tax-exempt trust that provides payments to you for your lifetime or for a specified number of years. At the end of the defined time period, the remainder of the assets will be transferred to Trailnet.
